The Kaduna State Police Command said on Monday that it
has arrested 18 armed robbers in connection with the bombing of a police
station in Birnin Gwari local government area of the state.
The suspects were identified as those that have been terrorizing
Birnin Gwari local government area and some other parts of the state.
The state police Commissioner, Olufemi Adenaike told Channels
Television in an interview that some of the arrested armed robbers are
immigrants from some African countries like Chad, Niger Republic and
Cameroun, among them are those that specializes in stealing of cows
belonging to Fulani herdsmen.
According to him, a joint operation by policemen and soldiers led to
the arrest of the suspects in their hideouts inside the forest while
temporary measures have been put in place to prevent armed robbers from
terrorizing the town through the forest.
The commissioner also identified the topography in most local
governments of the state as a contributing factor to the incessant
killings witnessed in the southern part of the state and added that
security agencies are winning the war against terrorism in the state.
